This is interesting, but I'm curious as to how bones and teeth could withstand 9,500 years exposure to sea water and not have long since disintegrated...

A couple of weeks ago another sunken "city" was found west of Cuba - which was once attatched to central america by a land bridge. Apparently the land bridge sunk and took the city to the depths with it.

Hi Mum, where is this blessed amphitheater?

I have a funny Rocky story. A number of years ago, the company I worked for sent me to a training class at the company HQ in an east coast city for a few weeks. I thought that while I was there I would see what, if any, Rocky observances were being celebrated at midnight on Saturday in that town. I happened to find a co-worker from my office who was in town for different purposes, but he too was stuck there for a couple of weeks, so we teamed up for dinner and stuff. He was Mormon and wanted to visit the site at which the angel Moroni delivered the golden tablets to whatzisname. I was kind of interested, from a sociological point of view, but I told him I would go do his thing if he would come see Rocky Horror with me at midnight Saturday. He agreed, not knowing quite what he was in for. Needless to say, he got pretty uptight when some of the performing audience started running up the ailes in their undies. I'll give him credit - he stuck with it and saw it through to the end, but HE was as much a show as anyone else there.

Is there a burning hell???

i'm just curious what everyone's view of hell is.

i know that most of you were at one time jws and i was wondering if you still held to the no-hell doctrine or if you had found scriptural reasons to believe otherwise.

if the latter applies, would you be so kind as to share the scriptures that have enlightened you?.

There is no supernatural metaphysical realm containing any sort of beings.

I love TRHPS too - and it is far better to see it in a theater with people in costume acting out the major roles and EVERYBODY talking back to the screen!

To me it often seems like two movies - with the "seduction scene being the start of the second , but that's just me...

Hello Stephen Bates,

You mentioned "a religion that abandonds people." I think it is quite likely that we will find that the Longo family murders in Oregon, USA, were precipitated by the deep despair that Mr. Christian Longo experienced after being disfellowshipped by Jehovah's Witnesses in Ypsilani, Michigan, whereupon he immediately lost the affections of his parents (Christian's father was a local elder) and the rest of his extended JW family.

Ultimately only Mr. Longo is responsible for his actions, but one can imagine how the "mark" of disfellowshipping could lead to a despair so deep that murdering his wife and children may have seemed preferable to witnessing their death at the invisible hand of an avenging God at Armageddon.

The WTS will claim that it HAS to disfellowship to keep their organization "clean" (Oh yes, so very clean!). This archaic and brutal practice causes deep psychological harm to the "disiplined" one; harm for which the WTS sees itself as blameless.

okay fess up: whats your handle mean?.

my handle: mindchild comes from computer scientist and futurist dr. hans moravec: who wrote the book, the future of robot and human intelligence which is a book about when we will be able to construct machines capable of human intelligence and raises the possibility of uploading ourselves (every thought we ever had) into an android body much superior to the human ones we have now.

i entertain the hope that not only will i live long enough to see this happen, i will transfer myself (the complete essence of what is me) into a body of my own choosing and become immortal if i so choose.

Well done! I find it amusing that they said,

Speakerphone voice: No sir, I am afriad the any confession told to a church preist in private that preist is not bond by law to report it.

not long ago, the PR guy at WTS HQ in Brooklyn described these same "church priests" as "untrained volunteers."

Whatever suits their needs at the time is what they'll say. Lying to outsiders is a recognized part of their "Theocratic War Strategy" and there have been Warchtower study articles discussing the appropriateness of such prevarication.

You guys ROCK!! My uncle was a Marine and a NYC cop. I love ya!
